"My husband and I thought we'd take out the hardscape brick ourselves to save money," Davis says. "We started jackhammering and took out 17 tons of brick, but we realized all of that was set in a foot of concrete. Red Oak did all of the work by hand because you can't get a backhoe or any machinery into our backyard."

"There was a lot of ivy, the hardscape was falling apart, and the koi ponds were basically mosquito-breeding grounds," Davis says. "I had grading problems, and things were eroding. It was just awful."
