COMPLAINT: Mary Jo Patke, Columbus, Ohio
"I hired Energy Tech Insulation to insulate my brick home from the outside with blown-in insulation, but I’m dissatisfied with the work. When they filled the hole on the outside, they did not do a competent job with the mortar.
"The insulation works fine, but the problem is with the mortar patches on the outside of my home. I have had them out multiple times to fix the problem. I spoke with the owner, and he said he would call me back, but I have not heard back from him."
DESIRED RESOLUTION: "I want to hire another company to do the work to my satisfaction and have Energy Tech Insulation reimburse me."
RESPONSE: Glen Kubinski, owner, Energy Tech Insulation
"We insulated her home by drilling 5/8th-inch holes into the mortar joints. We try to match the mortar to the best of our ability. There was damage on her home from another contractor before we started the work.
"I pride myself on quality work. However, drilling the mortar and making it look exactly as it did on an older home is difficult if not impossible."
STATUS: Resolved
Editor’s note: Energy Tech Insulation met with the customer to review the work.
