What's the most important thing to consider when buying an alarm system?
Nelson: "Work with a company that has a reputable operation and buy a system that fits your specific needs."
Booher: "Deal with a provider who is involved and accountable for every step of the solution."
Jordan: "Quality of equipment as well as the provider's knowledge of the installation."
What's the typical installation cost for an alarm system?
Nelson: "$995 with a 24-hour monitoring service that costs less than $1 a day."
Booher: "$700-$900 with an average of $35 per month for 24-hour monitoring services."
Jordan: "$650-$700 with a starting flat rate of $25 per month for 24-hour monitoring services."
Is technology changing the industry? How?
Nelson: "The initial signal gets to the control station much quicker. Cellular transition technology and digital systems continue to rise in popularity."
Booher: "Hybrid systems are becoming the standard. Two-way voice-link provides better protection and communication between the service and the homeowner."
Jordan: "As technology advances, the more options become available to the homeowner. This ultimately provides greater access to the system."
What makes you stand out from your competition?
Nelson: "We are an alarm company, not a marketing company. The one thing you can count on is that we will be here tomorrow."
Booher: "Consistency, reliability and the speed of the monitoring response with our central station."
Jordan: "A local company with longevity that has tremendous dedication to service."
Can a homeowner get an insurance discount by installing one of your systems?
Nelson: "Generally speaking, yes that would be possible."
Booher: "The homeowner generally will get a 5 to 20 percent discount."
Jordan: "The homeowner will receive a discount ranging from 10 to 20 percent."
How long have you been in business?
Nelson: "Our business started in 1990."
Booher: "Since 1950."
Jordan: "We started the company in 1975."
What's the biggest misconception people have about alarm systems?
Nelson: "People believe that alarm systems are foolproof. They are built to keep people out, but human beings are smart creatures."
Booher: "Homeowners develop a false sense of security. All too often homeowners go with 'cookie-cutter' or 'one size fits all' systems that fail to meet their family needs."
Jordan: "Homeowners have a general lack of concern over the type and quality of equipment, all the while overlooking the capability and qualifications of the installer."
