COMPLAINT: Doug Burdett, Houston
"I hired Italia International Inc. to install granite countertops and a travertine backsplash in kitchen. They seldom kept appointments, worked late in the evenings and did not protect furnishings from dust caused by the stone saw.
"At one point I was unable to contact the company for several days and when they did finally answer, I was informed they would not complete the work on the backsplash unless I would agree to pay them more. They said because the crew quit and left the country, they needed to charge me more.
"I hired another company to complete the repairs and install the backsplash."
DESIRED RESOLUTION: "I would like a refund of the paid portion of the backsplash fee that they retained."
