Hose hang-up
COMPLAINT: Cathi White, Skokie
"I hired Choice Cut Landscaping Inc. to build a retaining wall around my alley bed. Their customer service severely lacked. They cut into my irrigation hose, and I paid to have it replaced. I called them as soon as I realized the hose was broken and flooding the alley, but they weren't helpful. They visited once but didn't find the hose, and they never called me back after finally claiming to see the damage.
When I later reached them, they said the hose wasn't broken and the problem was a valve (there was no valve within 6 feet of the cuts in the hose). Then they said the hose was already broken before they installed the wall and had no idea why the workmen didn't tell me this."
DESIRED RESOLUTION: "I want a refund of $132 - the amount I paid my sprinkler company for a new soaker hose."
RESPONSE: Ray Pitti, owner/president, Choice Cut Landscaping Inc.
"We confirmed the complaint was about an irrigation hose that was buried underground and apparently cut while we installed the wall. Once notified about the hose, we were told the member was getting information from her own landscaper, who then replaced the hose and charged her before we had the opportunity to replace it.
We take pride in our work. Unfortunately, we couldn't resolve the situation to the member's satisfaction. We apologize for any miscommunication."
STATUS: Stalemate
Choice Cut Landscaping Inc. offered the member $66 (half of the requested refund), but she declined the offer.
