Homeowner alleges air duct cleaner made problem worse

COMPLAINT: Barbara Olsen, Downers Grove, Ill.

“I hired International Duct Cleaning Inc. of Chicago to clean my ducts and returns for $70.20. When they arrived, they told me they'd need to use a wire brush and raised the price to $375. I agreed and paid them. When they left, my furnace wouldn't work. My heating company told me the burners were clogged, which kept them from igniting. I had to have the heating company clean it. Several air intake registers are still visibly dirty.”

DESIRED RESOLUTION: “I want International to refund $375 and pay $208 for the heating company's cleaning.”

The exact same thing happened to me except the only difference is they changed their name for First Duct Cleaning after they received over 48 complaints in one year. I was taken for $1,000.00 so consider yourself lucky. I am in the process of filing a civil lawsuit agains the company.
