Home inspector allegedly overlooks giant crack
Date Published: Aug 03 2011
COMPLAINT: Mattie Howard-Bey, Westchester, Ill.
“I hired Owl Inspection Services of Villa Park, Ill., to perform a home inspection. The inspector, Steve Reilly, went through every room and took pictures. In a small basement room containing several pipes, he pointed out historical facts about how the pipes were set. However, he missed a 5-foot crack in the foundation that gushed water every time I turned on the outside waterspout. When I alerted him to the crack, he said he would come back to re-inspect, but I haven't heard from him since.”
DESIRED RESOLUTION: “I would like a $375 refund.”
STATUS: Penalty Box
