Hartford area moving company agrees to honor coupon
Carpet installation complaint
COMPLAINT: Jason Powell, Avon, Conn.
"I hired Empire Today LLC to install carpet in my basement. The installers were due in the morning, but called to say they'd be here by 2 p.m.
"They didn't arrive until after 6 p.m. I contacted them online and they offered me a $150 coupon, which I printed out, but couldn't locate when the salesman arrived.
"Empire refused to honor the coupon because I didn't present it before the job quote. I'm very disappointed."
DESIRED RESOLUTION: "I'd like them to honor the discount coupon."
Editor's note: Empire Today agreed to credit the member's charge card $150.
Moving company complaint
COMPLAINT: Andre Drouin, Enfield, Conn.
"I paid A&A Movers to evict someone who rents from me. They backed into the home and aren't cooperating with me on making repairs.
"I've tried to contact them by phone and they continuously give me the runaround."
DESIRED RESOLUTION: "I want them to reimburse me $565 so I can get someone else to fix it."
RESPONSE: Carol Chabot, office assistant, A&A Movers
"We were contracted to do an eviction. When the truck backed up, it barely skimmed the edge of the gutter, causing a small dent. We repaired the problem and noticed rotten wood on the house. We made the member aware that this would need fixing.
"We're not responsible for the disrepair of the house. We've done our part and feel we went beyond the call of duty."
