Handyman accused of rogue bathroom work in Indianapolis
COMPLAINT: Charlotte M. Smith, Indianapolis
I found Jeff Brundage in a community paper advertised as a handyman. I wish I'd read his ratings on Angie's List first.
I hired him to give me an estimate for work on my bathroom. He came by my office to pick up my house keys and said he'd return shortly. He didn't come back.
At the end of the day, I went home and found my toilet on the back patio, trim torn off the bathroom wall, and he and someone else were in the middle of destroying my bathroom. They had removed floorboards and he started telling me about everything that was wrong.
I asked him, "Why are you doing this without getting permission?" I had asked him to check a leak on the floor. I asked why he took trim and wall board off of my walls, which had nothing to do with the leak, and he said because they weren't up there right.
I was appalled! I made him complete the floor repair and replace the toilet. Later that night, he called and said it was going to cost $700.
I was upset because I did not ask him to do anything - he just decided to do it on his own. He violated all confidence I had in him and his work ethic was not at all reputable.
DESIRED RESOLUTION: I want Mr. Brundage to pay for the repairs and for the mess he made of my bathroom.
