Gutter company, Boston homeowner at odds about job quality

Gutter company, Boston homeowner at odds about job quality

Complaint: Tanya Lewis, Newton Center

I hired JLM Gutter Cleaning Service to install new gutters. They forgot to install gutters, screening and a downspout on one side of the house.

They returned to install it, but when it rained, water poured between the gutter and the side of the house. It was difficult to get them to respond to our problem.

When I called to remind him about finishing the job, he told me I had to pay in full first.

Desired Resolution:  I want JLM gutters to seal all the gutters to the roof.

Response: Ann Spinosa, office manager, JLM Gutter Cleaning Service

We inadvertently missed the installation of one downspout at the time of installation.

We returned to install the downspout, and also readjusted the screens and the drip-edge on the garage. The customer spoke with us about the water leaking between the house and gutters, and we agreed to go back out and install flashing at no additional cost to the customer, as long as she paid the balance in full for the work that was already performed.

The customer did not want to pay the balance until the additional work was performed.

Status: Unresolved
