COMPLAINT: Pat Steadman, San Jose, Calif.
"Duran Fencing Systems Inc. was to replace fencing across the middle of my backyard. They also put new screws in the alley gate hinge for no extra charge. When they finished the job, they showed me the extra stuff they had done first and then the fence itself.
When they showed me the fence, they pointed out the crowning of cement around the posts, which is why I had chosen Duran. Later, I noticed from my back window that a post hadn't been crowned on the inside - in fact, none of them had.
The posts seemed to be unfinished. There was soil in contact with most of the posts - even a hole where you can see down a bit - not to mention the lack of cement crowning on the house side. The sprinklers hit parts of the fence and posts every other day, so water can get in the holes.
I wasn't happy. I called immediately and left a message. They got right back to me, saying they'd be out to take care of the problem. That was two weeks ago, and they've done nothing in spite of these calls."
DESIRED RESOLUTION: "I'd like the job properly completed: fill the fence posts with concrete and crown the exposed posts."
STATUS: Resolved
The member informed Angie's List that the owner of Duran Fencing Systems filled the holes and crowned the posts.
