Is it true that bathtub refinishing produces a strong odor? What can you do to alleviate it?
“Yes, it does. We always work with an exhaust fan to get the odor out.” – Alonso Treto, owner of A&E Bathtub Refinishing in Altadena, Calif. Treto estimates refinishing a bathtub can save about 90 percent versus a complete replacement.
“There is an odor. We bring an exhaust fan so the odor dissipates.” –Bill Willets, manager of Miracle Method in Hollywood, Calif. Willets says refinishing is “cheaper, quicker and easier” than replacing a bathtub.
Treto and Willets estimate the refinishing process can take between two to five hours to complete. Both recommend waiting 24 hours before using your refinished tub.
