D.C. area home inspectors share interesting stories
Danny Patkus, owner, American Home Inspection Service, Chevy Chase, Md.
Dave Goldberg, owner, Reliable Home Services, Laytonsville, Md.
JD Grewell, owner, JD Grewell & Associates Inc., Silver Spring, Md.
What’s the most interesting thing you’ve discovered or that happened during an inspection?
Patkus: I went to a house, and a man came out with a shotgun and said “There will be no inspection of this here house today!” I said “You’re absolutely right, sir,” threw up my hands, got back in my vehicle, drove down the driveway and waited for my client. When they got there I said “We’re outta here, let’s go!”
Goldberg: The creativity of how people will try to fix problems is endless. If I had a specific one, it would be car parts put into plumbing systems to try and fix problems.
Grewell: The most interesting was trying to explain to a client why he couldn’t park a tractor on his garage roof. He was a Super Bowl MVP.
