Customer wants $12,000 for mobile home mold
COMPLAINT: Rick Copfer, Strongsville, Ohio
"I hired Dane Contractors Inc. of Westlake to repair damaged items in the kitchen and bedroom of a mobile home as a result of a leaking hot water tank.
"Dane's failure to recognize compromised ductwork, as well as damaged floorboards and adjacent insulation, eventually contributed to the growth of mold. It was a total loss."
DESIRED RESOLUTION: "I would like a refund of $12,300 in recovering the costs of mold testing, alternative living and the value of the demolished mobile home.
COMPANY RESPONSE: Jack Koch, marketing manager, Dane Contractors Inc.
"Our records show we performed all work as agreed upon, and the member signed a project completion form indicating the repairs were done to his satisfaction.
"Our defined role was not to solve pre-existing issues with the modular home, including its proximity to elevated moisture levels beneath the structure or conditions of microbial growth."
