Contractor resolves complaint about new windows

COMPLAINT: Susan Mosley, Washington, D.C.

"I hired Thompson Creek Window Company to install windows throughout my house. They continued to change prices throughout their work and the quality of work was not up to my standards.

"They even tried to cover up rotten sills with plastic so no one would notice. They also brought pieces of wood that seemed to have been eaten by termites."

DESIRED RESOLUTION: "Due to the poor performance, I will only pay them $5,000."

RESPONSE: Brian Wuest, vice president, Thompson Creek Window Company

"We are more than willing to satisfy the member's concerns. Upon inspection, we found no termite damage to any of the sills that we replaced.

"The member was referring to knots in the wood that were unsightly. We agree to replace the wood and paint it. We did not find anything out of the ordinary, but we are willing to go the extra mile to make the member happy."

STATUS: Resolved

Editor's note: The member informed Angie's List the window and window sills were inspected and repaired and she agreed to pay $7,291 to the company.
