Continual errors allegedly wreck remodeling work
COMPLAINT: Kristy Turner, Pickerington, Ohio
"I hired The Basement Guys in Reynoldsburg, Ohio, to finish my basement. When they started, the crew showed up with the wrong wall materials. About a month into the job, the township contacted me wanting to know why I didn't have permits. It turned out the company had not retrieved the permits, and didn't get the plumbing permit until weeks after they finished the work. I also found out the electrician they used had no license at the time.
"Now half the basement outlets don't work. In addition, they carpeted the stairs rather than sanding and restaining the wood. They glued the corners of the walls together and painted over them for a very unfinished look. Every time they tried to fix an issue, something else got damaged.
"Finally, I just wanted them out. All they needed to do was replace two doors that paint had run down. It took eight more weeks for them to show up with doors that matched the others. They're still supposed to come fix the electrical problems. The owner refuses to give me my warranty and the tax credit papers until I sign a paper stating I am satisfied with their work."
DESIRED RESOLUTION: "I want the warranty and tax credit paperwork."
Editor's note: Turner informed Angie's List that she received the warranty and tax papers, and the issues have been resolved to her satisfaction.
