COMPLAINT: Barbara Westgarth, Vancouver, Wash.
"I hired 911 Restoration Inc. to remove water from the crawl space of my daughter and son-in-law's home. They showed up more than 24 hours late, wanting a 60 percent down payment.
"They then used their sump pump, which didn't remove all of the water. I later found out they didn't do all the work I paid for. They gave me a one-day discount on an air scrubber, but they charged me for two days of use, even though it was only used for one!
"They were going to reimburse me a small portion of the total work I overpaid for, but when I contacted the attorney general's offices and the Better Business Bureaus in Oregon and Washington to make them aware of the company's practices, they rescinded their offer."
DESIRED RESOLUTION: I would like a refund of $2,145.
RESPONSE: Yoav Gueron, franchisee, 911 Restoration Inc.
"Although more water kept coming into her crawl space, the owner wanted to continue the drying by herself. Thus, the job was done as described on the invoice, and a change order was not accepted due to lack of funds."
STATUS: Stalemate
