Client says Madison-area tree service killed plant
COMPLAINT: Martin Pfeiffer, Middleton, Wis.
Harrington Tree Service trimmed trees and installed a large tree and several bushes for me. A large tree they planted died, and after several months, they didn't follow through on commitments to replace it.
They said they really didn't want to do the work for me, even though they were going to charge me for the replacement.
Harrington also didn't follow city suggestions for planting my tree, which emphasize the need for holes that are two-to-three times the size of the root.
When I questioned them, they said they're the experts, and I should let them do their work. I'm extremely disappointed in their follow-through, attitude and commitment to quality and service.
DESIRED RESOLUTION: Harrington should remove the dead tree and install a new one. The hole for the root should meet city suggestions for breadth.
They should clean up remaining debris and landscaping issues, and resod and mulch around the new tree. Harrington should provide a written receipt and guarantee their work.
