Client, Atlanta stereo shop dispute home theater repair
COMPLAINT: Anita Tancraitor, Atlanta
I called Home Electronics Design and Integration of Dunwoody to assess whether the universal remote control for my home theater system could be repaired or if it should be replaced.
James [Fenn], the owner, determined that the remote needed to be replaced. He sold me the remote he carried and programmed it to control all my home theater components.
The initial visit went well; however, within a couple of weeks, the new remote's back [cover] would not stay on. As a result, the battery fell out and all the programming was lost, rendering the remote unusable.
I called James five times to get him to help with this problem, but he never returned my calls. I also called the remote's manufacturer, who told me it was registered to James and I could not access the account.
DESIRED RESOLUTION: I would like a full $580 refund.
STATUS: Stalemate
Editor's note: Fenn responded to Tancraitor's complaint, offering the needed log-in information to reprogram the remote, but declining to refund her money due to the remote being in working order after he serviced it. He did not want his response posted.
