COMPLAINT: Larry Baum, Shaker Heights, Ohio
"I contracted John Olivo [owner, Universal Sealcoating] to resurface the asphalt on my driveway. I told him I had just had some drain work done and asked him if it was too soon to resurface.
"He said it would be fine. As it turns out, it was not fine. The subsurface was not cured, and many cracks and voids developed.
"I immediately called John, and he said I should wait one year to do the resurfacing and that he would come back next year to redo his work.
"Now it is one year later, and after repeated phone calls and broken appointments, he finally came back to say that since his business is not going well, he does not have the money anymore to fix my problem.
"He said that if I paid him $450 or $500, he would completely redo my driveway.
"That was what I paid him last year, so he was essentially offering me nothing. I am not an asphalt engineer, but I would expect a driveway job to last longer than one year."
DESIRED RESOLUTION: "I would like Universal Sealcoating to repave the affected area on my concrete driveway, just as was promised to me one year ago."
