Cleaned engine corrodes after auto detailing

COMPLAINT: Risa Beckwith, Chicago

"Diamond Brite Auto Detailing has detailed my car before, but this time they washed my engine 'by hand' in addition to the usual detailing.

"Two days after I picked up my car, it started stalling so I took the car to the dealer. They said the engine wash corroded the spark plugs and they had to be replaced. My oxygen sensor failed, due to the corroded spark plugs, which I also replaced.

"I'm out $900, have made several attempts to resolve this amicably and was even open to paying half the cost for my stupid decision to get my engine washed. But Diamond Brite refuses to call me back or acknowledge written communication.

"I was told very directly that in the service department's opinion, the engine wash without question was the culprit, "unless [you] drove into a lake.""

DESIRED RESOLUTION: "I would like to be reimbursed $876.58."

STATUS: Resolved
