Cincinnati homeowner disputes waste management charge
Cincinnati Penalty Box
Failed to respond to Karen Bagent's request to have damaged and missing fiberglass pool equipment, still under warranty, replaced after she says they neglected a service call.
COMPLAINT: Ken Blank, Cincinnati
The terms of service on my invoice from Forest Green Container, my trash collector, say I can place two haulers and three other receptacles or bags out each week. We put out our haulers and some tree branches (less than 1 inch in diameter). Although the branches have always been picked up in the past, that week they weren't.
When I called Forest Green, they told me I should've given them advanced warning of the pickup. I was also assessed a $10 charge after I placed a toilet, without its tank, on the curb, alongside the two haulers. There is nothing in the company's terms of service specifying a toilet base as an additional charge, and I had less than the allotted amount of trash out for the week.
DESIRED RESOLUTION: I want a refund for one week of service and the $10 toilet removal fee.
RESPONSE: Wendell Shelton, co-owner, Forest Green Container
We have always charged $10 for a toilet. As for the branches, they must not be more than four feet in length and must be bundled up as best as possible. One toter and two or three extra cans or bags is fine, but anything extra must be called in, and there could be [an extra] charge. The member requested two toters and was billed accordingly.
STATUS: Stalemate
