Short circuit
COMPLAINT: Jeanne Thomley, Charlotte
"Case TV Service came out to repair my television. He said a circuit board had gone out. He took the board and asked for a $300 deposit to fix or buy a new circuit board. I've called at least three times, and he's said he'll return the circuit board, but that he's keeping the money. It's three months later now, and I still don't have it."
DESIRED RESOLUTION: "I need the circuit board returned. I also believe he should return $200 to me."
RESPONSE: Ralph Case, owner, Case TV Service
"I told her she'd be better off buying a new TV, but she wanted this one repaired. I couldn't find a new board, because it's no longer available. I tried to rebuild it with 13 parts and still had problems. I'll give her a free service call on any TV repair."
STATUS: Stalemate
Editor's note: Case TV Service returned Thomley's circuit board, but was unwilling to give a $200 refund.
Restroom gloom
COMPLAINT: Pamela Terry, Charlotte
"Jason's Home Improvement did renovation work on my home. My main concern was the company overcharged me what they originally quoted in the estimate. I ended up paying $9,606.75, when the project actually cost $8,627.83. They also promised to complete small wiring job after an electrician looked at it. They never came to finish it."
DESIRED RESOLUTION: I'm asking for a $1,000 refund."
