Chair refinishing work lackluster, customer claims
COMPLAINT: Ed McIees, Kansas City, Mo.
"I hired Dougherty Professional Wood Renewers of Rock Port, Mo., to strip our chairs, re-stain and put a finish coat of lacquer on them, which cost us $1,650.
"When Larry Dougherty [the owner] delivered the chairs and legs to the table, I noticed the chairs had marks and gouging on them from the electric sander he used. The surface was rough and unattractive, and there was no indication that there was any lacquer on them.
"He told us he had cataract surgery sometime during the refinishing of the chairs, something he did not tell us before we hired him. He also told my wife he would be back in a month to apply a finish coat, but he never came back and did not respond to my wife's phone calls."
"We hired another company for $600 to apply a finish on the chairs and cover some of the damage on the seats of the chairs."
DESIRED RESOLUTION: "I would like at least half of or more of the $1,650 we paid."
STATUS: Stalemate
Editor's note: Larry Dougherty told Angie's List he was not willing to resolve.
