Cancer patient's wife calls ENT doctor, surgeons 'lifesavers'
Description of work: "Dr. Borrowdale diagnosed cancer in my husband's ear canal and performed surgery."
Member comments: "My husband, Troy, had a lot of ear pain, and it went on for months. He had been to our family doctor and other ear, nose and throat specialists. They always told him he had an ear infection. But his pain got so excruciating, he knew something wasn't right.
"Dr. Borrowdale saw us within two days, and within two weeks, he diagnosed my husband with squamous cell skin cancer*. Three weeks later, my husband underwent five and a half hours of radical surgery. Dr. Borrowdale and the other surgeons removed his ear canal, part of his jaw and lymph nodes in his neck.
"My husband is doing well now, thanks to Dr. Borrowdale. We feel grateful to him and the other doctors. They're lifesavers."
*Squamous cell carcinoma is the second most common cancer of the skin, but it's unusual for it to develop in the ear canal.
