Receipts, please
COMPLAINT: Carol Norman, San Diego
"The Garden Path constructed a TimberTech composite arbor and planter box. The company, upon completion of project, sent a general invoice that wasn't accompanied by receipts for more than $1,200 of materials. I requested the receipts by letter on two occasions, but they still refused. The company said they don't give receipts to customers."
DESIRED RESOLUTION: "I need the dated merchant receipts describing the composite building purchases. These receipts are required for a 25-year TimberTech warranty to be in force."
RESPONSE: Suzanne Steel, owner
"The member stated that I haven't responded to her second letter. I left to go to England for two weeks and recently returned. I sent a letter to the member today, with copy of a fax sent by the manufacturer saying there wouldn't be a 25-year warranty because of the way the product has been used. Any prolonged contact with soil or water voids the warranty. I explained to the member I was very sorry for being unable to answer her letter as promptly as she wished."
STATUS: Stalemate
Unfinished business
COMPLAINT: Pat Steadman, San Jose
"Duran Fencing Systems Inc. was to replace fencing across the middle of my backyard. When they finished the job, I noticed from my back window that a post hadn't been crowned on the inside - in fact, none of them had. I called immediately and left a message. They got right back to me, but have done nothing."
DESIRED RESOLUTION: "I'd like the job properly completed: crown the exposed posts."
STATUS: Resolved
Editor's note: The member informed Angie's List that Duran crowned the posts.
