COMPLAINT: Gary Chinman, Wayland, Mass.
"I hired New England Painting & Construction to paint the exterior of my house, and stain the front and back porches. I was concerned with grime spots on the back porch and requested power sanding the floor.
"Dave Goudreault, the owner, reassured me that power washing would be adequate to remove them. After the washing, Dave described the spots as 'impossible' to remove.
"The staining was substandard with clearly visible dark and light patches. Also, much of the trim is poorly covered and other areas have extensive peeling.
"I intended to withhold $300 from the final payment, which made Dave very upset; and he said if I did, the job would not be guaranteed. He said twice he would come out and look at the floor and both times canceled last minute."
DESIRED RESOLUTION: "I want them to complete the job to my satisfaction or return part of my payment."
STATUS: Resolved
