Door scam
COMPLAINT: David J. Hogarth, Wollaston "I custom ordered five doors from Home Depot [465 Centre St., Quincy]. However, they didn't order the fifth door and wanted to know why I didn't see that on the invoice. But the invoice is hard to read and about 10 pages long. When I went to pay the final amount, I learned I couldn't have the door even though I thought I was ordering and paying for five doors.
"They wanted to charge an additional 30 percent, a total of $750 more. So I called the store manager, and they stated they needed the additional money to order the fifth door and didn't try to make a resolution. When they installed the doors at my home, the keys aren't keyed the same as ordered, and the front storm door doesn't shut tight, making locking the door impossible. They never acknowledged they made a mistake."
DESIRED RESOLUTION: "I want a reduction of the final cost."
STATUS: Penalty Box
