Boston area movers determine the right time to move

Knowing the best time to move can help get the right price and kill some stress. Mike Bavuso of Big Foot Moving & Storage Inc. in Arlington, Mass., Kamaul Reid of Rare Moving and Trucking in Boston and Ezekiel Wheeler of Intelligent Labor and Moving in Cambridge, Mass., explain when they believe you should be moving.

When is the best time to move?

Wheeler: The best time of year weather wise is the spring, you have moderate temperatures, no snow, and less rain than the fall.

Reid: The best time to move is during the middle of the month since it is not as chaotic. The holiday season is the best time in my opinion.

Bavuso: The best time to move is the “off season," October through March, simply because customers can take advantage of lower prices. During the “high season,” April through September, labor rates are up 10 to 20 percent.
