COMPLAINT: Trish Broderick, Blue Bell, Pa.
Select Cabinetry installed countertops and a tile backsplash in my kitchen. The seam in the countertop was very obvious, and it looked like they'd used two pieces of slightly different-colored material. The fabrication manager inspected it and found the pieces weren't level.
Select Cabinetry and the fabrication manager were aware early on that I thought the colors didn't match and was dissatisfied with the appearance of the seam. The fabrication manager said one half of the countertop should be shimmed to correct the angle.
Select Cabinetry said they'd do this but that it wouldn't significantly improve the problem. They indicated that I needed a new countertop.
I was told both sides would work together to resolve the problem, but there was very little coordination, which left me in the middle.
DESIRED RESOLUTION: I'd like the countertop to be replaced so that it's level and the seam is inconspicuous.
