Best Milwaukee Contractors of 2010
A O Handy | Milwaukee, Wis.
Rozanne Screven was pleased A O Handy worked within her budget when repairing her chimney and garage. "Every place they did work looks beautiful," says Screven, who also appreciated the company's lack of aggressive sales tactics and friendly workers.
"We take pride in the work we do because we love doing it," says Andriy Boyko, manager of the family-owned business, which is licensed with the state.
Boyko says his dad founded the company in 2001 and named it based on the first name they share, Andriy, as well as his mother's name, Olha. Boyko attributes their success to his dad's perfectionism and fair pricing.
He says they offer discounts to veterans, teachers and seniors, and recycle leftover materials.
Duct Works Environmental | Waukesha, Wis.
Member Ertan Ornek says he appreciated the competitive pricing and professional service Duct Works Environmental provided when they cleaned the air duct system in his 1951 Milwaukee home. "They came across as a friendly and family-oriented company," Ornek says.
After more than 25 years in the service industry, in 2001 Frank Porter founded the company he now runs with his son and son-in-law. "We want to treat our customers how we would want to be treated if someone were in our home," says Porter, whose company also donates to local cancer groups.
The company uses top-of-the-line equipment and even has had tools specially manufactured to their standards. Customers describe Duct Works Environmental's service as courteous and prompt, and praise their practice of providing before-and-after photos of the air ducts they've cleaned.
