COMPLAINT: Yan Yu, Bellevue, Wash.
"Kings Heating Inc. charged me $427 instead of the agreed upon $300 for an hour of work, during which time they capped off three heating docks, and cleaned and replaced a filter.
"They never sent me a bid as they claimed, and they threatened to take me to a collection agency when I disputed their bill."
DESIRED RESOLUTION: "I sent a $300 check noting I have paid in full. This should conclude our dispute.
COMPANY RESPONSE: Gary Pollard, owner/president, Kings Heating Inc.
"I am the salesman who met with the member. She asked me how much it would cost, and I said between $350 and $450. The member knew the price.
"We read the entire proposal to her over the phone before we sent the technicians. When we called for payments, she didn't want to pay.
"We did the job on a bid basis, not a time and materials basis. The bid price was not $300; $425 plus sales tax was the price. The bill needs to be paid in full."
