COMPLAINT: Elizabeth Kamerer, Martinsburg, W.Va.
"I had three flooding episodes that Dan Ryan Builders [the company that built my house] claimed was a water softener drainage problem. I hired an independent plumber, who discovered a tile drain problem. During construction, the tile drain wasn't connected, resulting in water pressure building under the slab and cracking it. They refuse to replace the damaged slab, pay for the independent structural engineer or perform repairs."
DESIRED RESOLUTION: "I want them to replace the basement slab, install a Waterguard System by Sahara, and reimburse $500 for the structural engineer and $301 for the plumber."
RESPONSE: Diana Herring, warranty manager, Dan Ryan Builders
"We'll reimburse the member for the plumbing bill and are willing to work with Quality Builders Warranty to resolve structural questions. Dan Ryan Builders will contact Mrs. Kamerer directly."
STATUS: Stalemate
Editor's note: Kamerer says she was contacted by Dan Ryan Builders, but they didn't resolve her complaints.
