COMPLAINT: Carol Willingham, Carrollton, Texas
I bought a Kia Rio from National Auto. The ad said, 'This Kia is in near-excellent condition: no accidents, no mechanical problems whatsoever.'
But not long after I bought it, I had to pay $380 to replace a timing belt. The day after I replaced the belt, the check engine light came on.
I learned the car's computer was dead, and it needed a new or rebuilt transmission.
The dealer said he'd driven the car around for a week and it was fine, but I can't imagine that this is something that just started happening after I purchased the car.
DESIRED RESOLUTION: I want National Auto to either reimburse me for $2,700 in repairs or take the car back and issue a $3,700 refund.
STATUS: Penalty Box
