Auto repair shop allegedly puts driver in harm's way
COMPLAINT: Laura and Andy Rundell, Swissvale, Pa.
"We hired Monro Muffler Brake Inc. [3754 William Penn Highway, Monroeville] to perform a safety inspection. They told us more than $1,000 worth of work was required for the car to pass the safety inspection.
"Four days after the inspection, I had to pull off the road just before entering a tunnel and call AAA to be towed because the wheels almost came off the front of the car. The wheels were not attached properly and the AAA employee said that whoever attached them only used one of the necessary two tools to attach them.
"The car was towed to Monro and they properly reattached the wheels. Monro offered us $100 off of future work, but this does us no good as I have no desire to risk my safety by bringing my car to them again."
DESIRED RESOLUTION: "I would like a refund for the more than $1,000 we were charged. Since they told us that this work was needed for our car to pass the safety inspection and then sent us away with an unsafe vehicle, we believe the entire charge should be nullified."
