Austin ceramic tile complaint
COMPLAINT: Michael Hosny, Austin
"AAA Tile laid tile in my kitchen, living room, hallway, master bedroom and master bathroom. They completed the work and I paid them in full. After I had a plumber come out to do some work, I noticed the water in the tub wasn't draining.
A few weeks later, AAA Tile informed me I owed them money for a dumpster fee, even though they'd already signed the receipt of my payment in full. They'd told me earlier that 45 days after the work was completed, they'd seal the grout, but later said this would cost extra.
They aren't responding to my request to fix the water drainage issue."
DESIRED RESOLUTION: "I want them to seal the grout; repair the shower floor, which wasn't sloped properly; tile the area where the dishwasher is to be installed and cut the trim on the shower walls so they can install the shower door. Otherwise, I'll have another contractor perform the work and bill AAA."
RESPONSE: Donald Raesz, owner, AAA Tile
"The contracted amount negotiated between AAA Tile and Michael Hosny was $6,700. He discounted himself $600 and paid $6,100 for installation of tile in his home. He still owes $414.79. When he pays the account in full, AAA Tile will fix the tile on the shower floor at no charge.
Sealing the tile is separate from installation. It can't be applied until after grout and concrete are properly cured. For sealing services, there's an additional charge of 80 cents per square foot."
STATUS: Stalemate
