"It's amazing what damage squirrels can cause," Colodne says. "It was about a four-month fight with the squirrels." Squirrels must constantly gnaw on stuff to keep their always-growing teeth in check. The critters will chew on about anything as long as they have a perch to sit on. They not only chew on wood, they're sometimes blamed for electrical shortages or fires when they chomp though wires. When Colodne began investigating the problem, he discovered a den of baby squirrels at the top of the porch. He had the babies removed to deter the squirrels from coming back.

Description of work "Renewal Construction rebuilt a porch column that squirrels had damaged. I'd tried for awhile to patch the hole with chicken wire and caulk, but the column was starting to rot. They also repaired the upper bracing on my 14-foot front porch."
