Asphalt company accused of shoddy work on Austin driveway

COMPLAINT: Daniel Brent, Leander, Texas

I hired Armor Asphalt Paving to widen my driveway by three feet at turns in a 600-foot road. Grading work was included to build up the road base width.

The grading work went OK, but then there was a delay of over a week due to rain. A couple of days before the asphalt work started, the contractor asked if I would pay the second half of the bill since he was having cash problems due to the delays.

Against my better judgment, and because we had done business in the past, I agreed. The contractor showed up a few days later and laid the asphalt. When he finished, he left without coming up for a final inspection. When I inspected the work after I realized he had left, I found that he had only widened the road by two feet at a particularly important tight curve.

I called him immediately and he disagreed. I assured him I had measured the area in question and I was very sure of the discrepancy. After a couple of conversations, he agreed to come back and correct the error when he had another job nearby. Since then, several calls and messages have gone unreturned.

DESIRED RESOLUTION: I want the job to be completed.

STATUS: Penalty Box
