3 ways to pick the right dog kennel

1. Visit the facility — A reputable facility will ask that you bring your pet in to gauge how he/she reacts to the other pets. Use this time to get to know the staff and introduce your pet to the staff.

2. Make sure they offer proper supervision — Ask how many pets the facility accommodates. Do they have enough staff to ensure proper supervision? Do they staff the area 24/7? Do they have a veterinarian on staff?

3. Check their license/certification — Check if your state requires boarding kennel inspections. If so, the facility should display this information.

Hi, I am a Kennel owner. And I do not agree with what you are telling people they should do before they choose a kennel. 1} bringing the Pet to meet us, is not a must. As I find I get the wrong impression. The dog is all excited to be here. If not trained, we spend the time getting the dog to behave. Then we can't take the dog , where we take people. It disturbes our guest. You may want to visit a kennel and ask the owner. Guess you never worked at a kennel. 2} It depends on the day you visit. Mondays morning are busy. Lots of pets being picked up. Weekends are busy. The Pets don't rest if dogs or people are coming in and out. We have short visiting hours. For our pets we care for. We want a stress free environment. We don't like people to go from kennel to kennel spreading germs. 3) Thats a good idea, but you can have all kinds of Awards and documents on your wall. How about EXPERIENCE! People write all kinds of lies on reviews. I see it all the time. And if you believe everything people write .Then you will never trust anyone. Florida requires only a county license. You do not get a certificate when UDSA inspects you. You can not even advertise it. The health of peoples own dogs is what is important. As they try to bring the health issues to us to fix, instead of the bill they may get at a Vets office. Not only do we ask that yearly vaccinations our currant. But that we see Health records. And we do get people that want to board an aggressive Pet. Because stingers can't come in the house to let the aggressive dog out. Or walk him.In any case who ever wrote this needs to do homework!!
